The Complete Blood Count
(CBC) test is the most common laboratory hematology
analyzer test conducted worldwide. It measures the
production of blood cells, gives information on
essential components of the blood, and identifies a
patient’s oxygen-carrying capacity. Evaluating and
interpreting the results of the CBC test is critical to
providing patients with the highest quality care.
However, there is a
significant healthcare need for faster turnaround time
of the CBC test, enabling expedited clinical decision
making for improved patient care. Traditional STAT CBC’s
may take 30-90 minutes for results from blood sampling
to delivery of CBC results (vein to brain). This may
impact patient treatment decision-making, resulting in
errors, delays, and inefficiencies.
This webinar will focus on
advances in a new FDA cleared technology that have
allowed POC CBC testing with new alternative options for
where, when, and how a POC CBC test can be performed. It
will also discuss the economic considerations for CBC
results as they affect basic cost per test
reimbursement, overall patient treatment costs, and
decision-making.
This webinar will:
- Evaluate the impact of 3-minute STAT CBC
and 5 minute 5 part Diff results on decision
making in the various clinical department
for specific patients.
- Discuss the economic considerations for
CBC results as they affect basic cost per
test reimbursement, overall patient
treatment costs, and decision-making.
- Analyze how traditional large and
miniaturized hematology equipment at the POC
can result in clinical, operational, and
economical compromises.
- Identify the advancements in point of
care CBC testing technologies.
