Phil Weihser is the divisional operations manager for
Respiratory, Cardiology, Stroke, Neurology
Gastroenterology, Diabetes, Older Peoples Medicine, and
POCT at the James Paget University Hospital in the UK.
Phil has responsibility for the delivery of a 7-day
Ambulatory Emergency Care Services at the Trust.
Having
previously managed several projects within the Pathology
environment to reduce specimen turn-around times
(utilising Lean methodology and process change), he has
successfully managed the design and creation of the
Ambulatory Emergency Care service at his Trust. This has
led to the integration of a multi-disciplinary
workforce, evidence-based service redesign, and
Point-of-Care testing to deliver significant clinical,
financial and operational benefits. |

Phil has additionally undertaken post graduate training in Six
Sigma process improvement which has been used to create the
aforementioned AEC service. This has in-turn led to the redesign
of the entire Acute Medical Unit to significantly reduce patient
length of stay, achieve enhanced discharge metrics, and further
increase hospital capacity, whilst improving patient experience
and outcomes; alongside numerous other innovative change
projects within the acute healthcare environment. |
